PILAR JURADO ATTENDS TO THE 19th WCO Asia/Pacific Region Heads of Customs Administration Conference in Fiji

Pilar Jurado has been last week at the 19th WCO Asia/Pacific Region Heads of Customs Administration Conference in Nadi, Fiji. During her visit Pilar has had different bilateral meetings with Australia, China and Korea. She has also met with the customs directors of Fiji and Hong Kong. On Thursday Pilar shared her vision and project to move the WCO forward. Some of the aspects that Pilar most wanted to highlight were:

“If you elect me as your Secretary General, my first priority will be to strive for unity and consensus”. Pilar Jurado

  • “About the policy priorities I see two main objectives: to develop the standard-setting role of the WCO to bring more coherence and efficiency to the work of Customs worldwide and secondly, to develop the role of the WCO in the provision of Capacity Building”
  • “Embrancing the new technologies together with Capacity Building we will prepare Customs for facing the future challenges”
